LNT 7 Alumni and Mayor of the City of Haslet, Bob Golden, has accepted the position of LNT Alumni Action Committee Incoming Chairman. In this role, he will assist the current LNT Alumni Chairman, TD Smyers (LNT 5) with vision and strategy surrounding LNT Alumni activities. Bob will take over as LNT Alumni Action Committee Chairman beginning October 1, 2017.
Bob is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He was a fighter pilot, flying the F-4 Phantom II off the USS John F. Kennedy. Upon leaving active duty, he flew the A-7 Corsair II in the US Navy Reserve and eventually commanded a Reserve A-7 Squadron. He retired as a Navy Captain in June 1996.
Bob pursued a career in commercial aviation, flying for Eastern Air Lines and then FEDEX, retiring as a B-727 Captain in December, 2004. Shortly thereafter, he became active in his community, serving on the Haslet Parks and Recreation Board and the Haslet Planning & Zoning Commission before his election to City Council in 2008 and Mayor in 2009. He is in his fourth 2-year term as Mayor.
He serves on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Leadership Forum, the Northwest Communities Partnership, and the Metroport Cities Partnership. He is also active with the Northwest Metroport Chamber of Commerce and the North Texas Commission.
Bob loves riding his horses, taking several out of state trips each year to trail ride with his wife and friends. He especially likes his close proximity to his grandchildren and he and Kathleen spend as much time as possible with them. He is also an avid sports fan and closely follows the local professional sports teams in addition to the Texas Aggies and his Navy Midshipmen.
